Jerez hosts the I Congress of Calesera-style Harnesses

The event will take place on June the 9th at The Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre Foundation and it will be open to all citizens.

On the initiative of 'Jerez, European City of Horse 2018', The Real Club de Enganches de Andalucía alongside with The Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre have presented the second part of the I Congress of Calesera-style Harnesses. This part consists in practical lectures intended to complement the theoretical part that took place in Seville during the month of February.

The Congress will give the opportunity to analyze the changes that the calesera-style harness, characterized by its bells, has undergone and to showcase the different forms it presents nowadays.

The Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre will host the above-mentioned practical lectures next Saturday 9th of June with demonstration explaining all the different items used to conform the carriage in various forms like limonera, tandem, tronco, tresillo, potencia, cuarta y cinco a la larga.

During this congress, words and tools like 'quitipón', 'collar', 'horcate', 'francaletes', 'collera', 'entremanta', 'tiros', 'capuchina', 'borlaje', etc. will be shown and analysed.

With this Congress, The Real Club de Enganches de Andalucía and The Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre wishes to define and explain all the concepts related to the Calesera-style carriage, with the objective to serve as a guide for hobbyists, drivers, saddlers, judges and, at the same, time help to preserve this tradition which is part of our cultural heritage.
